If you are passionate about helping the community, we want to talk to you!

As the leading not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative in the Eastern Sierra and Kern County, volunteers play an integral role in the credit union. AltaOne serves a vast area with a diverse population, and we are always looking for volunteers that represent the geographical, cultural, and uniqueness of our membership.

Board of Directors

The purpose of AltaOne’s Board of Directors is to ensure that the credit union follows its mission and reaches its long-term goals in the best interest of the membership. All members of the Board of Directors are volunteers elected by the membership at our Annual Meeting.

The Board of Directors is responsible for ensuring the members of the credit union are confident in their institution and the way it provides for their financial needs. They provide effective governance and leadership and ongoing oversight to ensure the financial soundness and sustainability of their credit union.

Supervisory Committee

The Supervisory Committee’s overriding concern is to protect the financial assets of the credit union and its members. They do this by verifying internal controls and ensuring policies and procedures are maintained and followed.

Advisory Board

AltaOne's Advisory Board will be comprised of individuals who partner with the credit union and our local leaders to help define the direction of our activities in the communities we serve. The Advisory Board will provide an 'additional set of eyes' from outside the credit union, which helps us get a full picture of the unique issues and opportunities that exist in our communities.

The Advisory Board will serve to make recommendations and/or provide key information and materials to local management staff and the board of directors in an advisory capacity. They also help to define the direction of the local market with a focus on meeting the goals and objectives of the area.

  • Expectations of a Board or Committee Volunteer

  1. Believe in the credit union’s mission, vision, and philosophy.

  2. Have a willingness to learn.

  3. Attend regular monthly board meetings.

  4. Actively promote the credit union.

  5. Be a team player and act in the best interest of the membership.

  6. Able to commit 5-8 hours per month to perform duties.

  • Eligibility to Serve as a Board or Committee Volunteer

  1. Be a member in good standing.

  2. No immediate family member is a paid employee of the credit union.

  3. Pass background check.

All board and committee positions are volunteer positions. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives. Board and committee members are unpaid officials.

Event Volunteers

We host a multitude of events across the credit union: workshops, festivals, old-fashioned carnivals, movie nights, egg hunts, etc. These events are free of charge, and we consider them our ‘gift to the community.’

As our events grow, we rely on event volunteers to help us produce and improve our events. Past volunteers have included credit union members, staff, community groups, and youth organizations.
