Get published!
We want to hear from you — what you’re interested in or
concerned about. Submit an article, and if it’s published in the SST Connection, we’ll give you an iTunes gift card.

Be smart when using a debit card
Debit cards are a great convenience, but they also come with a lot of responsibility. It’s easy to spend more money that you have. Plus, you need to watch out for identity thieves. For tips on using your card read the “Debit card safety” article on page 2.

Boarding on a budget

It’s snowboarding season. But with Bear Mountain charging $41 for a
Young Adult lift ticket and Mammoth $79, you have to save money
somewhere! Here are a few tips to cut down the cost of a snowboard:

Local ski shop
Ask for last year’s models, or boards from their rental stock.

Ask a ski pro
Next time you go to a resort, ask the ski pros if they have anything for
sale. Sometimes they get manufacturer’s samples and they don’t
mind selling them cheap if they’re not going to use them.

Snowboard swaps
Check online and at ski resorts for announcements about “swap
meets” where you can pick up good used gear cheap.

Online auctions
You have to be 18 to bid on eBay,® so you may need a parent or older
sibling, but there are good deals there.

We hope it’s a good year for snow. Have fun!
