International Wire Transfers

Q. How does the new International Funds Transfer process differ from the current international wire process?
 
A. Currently AltaOne utilizes the US Dollar as its form of currency. The new International Funds Transfer process will allow us to send wire transfers in the member’s currency of choice.

 
Q. How will members benefit from this service?
 
A. Our members will save money in exchange fees from other institutions by sending the wire in the foreign currency of their choice.

 
Q. What is the fee for this service?
 
A. The fee for the International Funds Transfer will be the same as our current international wire fee. Please see our schedule of fees and charges.

Q. How long will it take to process an International Funds Transfer?
 
A. International Funds Transfers will be delivered in 2 business days, with the exception transfers to Canada and Mexico which will be delivered in 1 business day.

 
Q. How are the exchange rates determined?
 
A. The current market conditions are used to determine the exchange rate. Rates are subject to change at any time, and several factors affect the market rate. These include political or economic policy changes or stability of a foreign country, and the liquidity of the currency.

 
Q. Is the exchange rate locked in for a certain amount of time?
 
A. The exchange rate is locked in for 24 hours following the processing of the wire. This way, even if the wire is requested after the cutoff time for sending the wire, the exchange rate will remain the same when the wire is sent the next day.

 
Q. Are the funds protected?
 
A. No; as with our current international wire process, the funds are not guaranteed or protected.

 
Q. Is confirmation sent when the wire is received?
 
A. No; as with our current international wire process, confirmation is not sent when the wire is received. However, the wire be traced for a fee.
